| Factory Opening! |

On March 4th, 2011, Wetzel S.A. and Dietzel GmbH inaugurated their new joint production plant in Joinville, Brazil. The opening of the new factory marks the end of a three year’s project with the intention to bring the Turbo technology to the South American markets. At the same time it also marks the beginning of a new era for both partners.
Wetzel and Dietzel have been in contact for many decades meanwhile. Both companies share a lot of similarities concerning their history, organisational structures, business culture and philosophy. Wetzel operates a broad sales network in Brazil for all kinds of installation material, has a good reputation and high quality standards, and is supplier to specialised customers in the area. With Dietzel’s innovative potential and technological know-how the combination of both companies’ strength seems to be the ideal platform for a prosperous development of their joint operations.
The new plant, Wetzel Univolt Indústria de Plásticos Ltda., will manufacture rigid and pliable PVC conduits in Turbo design, ducting systems made from PE, and accessories. The focus sales regions are the south of Brazil, the central regions around Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro as well as such distant spots as Recife. Additionally, the factory will set new impulses for export activities, particularly in Argentina, Paraguay and Chile.
The Brazilian investments in infrastructure and upcoming projects like the Football Championships and the Olympic Games offer vast sales potential in the near future. Wetzel Univolt has a total production capacity of 15 million metres of conduit per year. The facilities are designed to allow for an increase of 100% within 5 years. Target markets are wholesalers for installation material, project engineering companies, transportation services and industry.
